I looked terrible because I just gave birth and was crying hysterically right before this picture (plus I was pretty exhausted from a 27 hour labor/delivery process).
But this is pretty much one of the only pictures I have with him right now. I love him so much.♥

"Making a decision to have a child–it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."

Ina May Gaskin is a quietly badass midwife challenging how we think about maternity care. BIRTH STORY highlights her daily commitment to the knowledge and power of modern midwives, one birth at a time.
Is this movie just for pregnant ladies? Nope. BIRTH STORY is for me, you, and every womb we know.

"Today I feel honored and proud to be a midwife, and to be apart of such a wonderful profession. From the day I decided this was the path I wanted to take when I was about 13, I have never looked back. Obviously there have been good days and bad days, and days where all I’ve wanted to do is burst in to tears, run out of the door and shout, ‘what the hell am I doing??!!’ But ultimately each of these experiences has moulded me in to not only the midwife that I am today, but the person I am today. I have learned so much from each and every family I have worked with and I am so grateful to be able to to be a part of their journey. I have learnt to trust in something greater than ourselves, because no matter how hard we try, we can never come up with a better design for life than nature.
To all of my midwife friends and colleagues around the world, and to all of the families who have touched my heart…Thank you."

"Midwifery means becoming a small part of an everyday miracle."
+
"Midwifery means helping a woman find within her the strength she didn’t think she had, believing in women at times when they perhaps do not believe in themselves, encouraging them to listen and believe in what their bodies can do. It’s about being her voice when she is at her most vulnerable, protecting her rights, her dignity and her beliefs. Midwifery is about being in the moment: being unassuming yet fully attentive, being competent yet able to give sensitive personalised care to the entire woman and even her family, from the inside out. Enabling the woman to fully understand herself and reach her greatest potential."
